This mixed media painting was inspired by my fascination with the stories the sea leaves behind. I combined acrylic paint, reclaimed fishing net, sea glass, and seashells to create a piece that blurs the line between painting and artifact. Each material carries its own history—weathered by water, shaped by time, and transformed by nature.
The fishing net serves as both a visual and symbolic element. It speaks to connection, survival, and the fragile relationship between humanity and the ocean. The sea glass and shells, once part of something larger, have been softened and reshaped through years of movement and change. Their presence reflects themes of resilience, renewal, and the beauty that can emerge from life's rough edges.
Working with texture was central to this piece. The layered acrylic surface creates a quiet, coastal atmosphere, while the embedded objects invite viewers to look closer and experience the work beyond the visual. I wanted the painting to feel like a treasured shoreline discovery—a moment suspended between memory and place.
Through this work, I hope to evoke a sense of calm reflection and encourage viewers to consider the hidden histories contained within ordinary objects and the enduring power of nature to transform them.
